God wants our hearts first ...
and only then our hands.

"... only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
— Luke 10:42
When God is given the chance to fill our hearts to overflowing, we cannot help but splash His love and goodness to those around us, it is easy and light and in your own element, in the way He designed you to serve. There you find joy and fulfillment in doing good works He predestined you to do. And that is where He gets all the glory for the work that is done.
All the good works in the world cannot make up for not knowing Jesus. Our personal relationship with Him is the most important time we will ever spend. Serving others must come out of the overflow of this time with Him or we find ourselves drained after serving and have nothing left over for the Lord.
I will not apologize for the large amounts of time I give to Jesus. Some think I should be serving others with this time. My relationship with Him has to come first, it's what gives me the strength and perspective I need. God wants our hearts first, then our hands.
I think of you first Lord, first to love on and to be loved by.
In the morning my thoughts turn to you first,
And if the weight of the day pulls me down ,
I will fall at your feet again and leave it with you.
You kiss my head and hold my hand.
You lift me up on your shoulders and carry me through.
